Here, in a new kind of book, is a fascinating presentation of Tolstoy's masterpiece. Drawing from both the novel and the motion picture, it provides a vivid, fast-paced story that is not only exciting in itself but cannot fail to increase you enjoyment of both the novel and the film.
BERNARD GEIS, who create the Picture-Story of Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace, has been an editor and writer for many years, both in the book and magazine fields. He was assistant editor for Esquire magazine from 1938 to 1945 and editor of Coronet magazine from 1939 to 1945. He transferred his activities in 1945 to the book-publishing field to become editor-in-chief and vice-president of Grosset & Dunlap, where he originated many successful new lines of books, including the Berlitz language guides and Signature Books. He resigned in 1953 to create a series of children's picture books, Magic Talking Books, that can be played on a phonograph.
