Newly unemployed teacher Mary Malone never suspected she would become a Miss Marple wannabe when she and her recently widowed aunt decide to sublet her private investigator brother's apartment in the Foley complex near downtown Minneapolis. After having listened to a message intended for the PI's ears only, Mary is determined to solve what sounds like an easy case for Reed Griffin, owner of the Bar X Ranch, and soon finds herself not only facing down her demons from childhood—fear of horses—but also being surrounded by two deaths and three very deceiving men.Marlene Chabot of Elk River, MN Native Minnesotan Marlene Chabot is a member of Sisters in Crime and Marco Island Writers. She received a B.S. degree in education from St. Cloud State Universtiy, an A.A.S. business marketing degree from Anoka-Ramsey Community College, and a writer's certificate from the Institute of Children's Literature. An avid mystery fan since a youngster, Marlene began her writing career in 1995 and has published five novels, three short stories, and numerous freelance articles for magazines, newspapers, and other venues covering Central Minnesota. She enjoys time spent with her family, two grown children and grandchildren. When not writing, she can be found gardening, walking, biking, reading books, or watching shows with mystery themes.
