Poppy O’Guin Steele, who grew up in the Deaf World, married her high school sweetheart who is now a police detective. They have two teenage daughters. Poppy taught developmental classes in community colleges while the girls were growing up. She was also a freelance interpreter and freelance writer during those years.Poppy is currently the founder and Executive Director of the Sign Club Co. which is a nonprofit that teaches sign language to hearing children in the community and advocates for deaf children. She loves Harry Potter, tiramisu lattes with soy, white-water rapids, and the color red.
